What Warp does
Warp is an open source terminal for AI-assisted software development that runs coding agents alongside the shell on macOS, Linux and Windows. Its local agents connect to MCP servers added in the app or read from ~/.warp/.mcp.json and .warp/.mcp.json files, over a launched command, Streamable HTTP or SSE.
Why teams reach for it: Puts the MCP-connected agent inside the terminal itself, reusing server definitions already configured for Claude Code or Codex.
How Warp compares

Which host will connect to the server?
A client, or agent host, is the application — like Claude or Cursor — that actually connects to and uses an MCP server.
